PROGRESSIVE
Suspended Transformer Welding Guns - Air and Hydraulic Models

LOWER YOUR COSTS AND INCREASE EFFICIENCY
WITH PROGRESSIVE STANDARDIZED WELDING GUNS

Progressive welding guns, manufactured by PTS Welding Technology assure you of outstanding quality, versatility and economy across our entire welding gun line.

Progressive's design excellence, coupled with tight  manufacturing and quality control standards, produce welding guns with the highest productivity capability.

Progressive guns are quality throughout. They're insulated to resist heat and cooled efficiently at all critical points.

When worn or damaged, the electrode holders can be quickly replaced...and at low cost. Points are always perfectly aligned. Seals and packing nuts are leakproof. Wear compensation is virtually unnecessary.

With a simple changeover of components, one Progressive gun chassis can be converted to over 57,000 different gun assemblies. One of which should meet your needs exactly.

Standard chassis accommodates air or hydraulic cylinders of nearly any capacity. Progressive guns are easy to maintain, easier to handle and available in a number of sizes depending on your welding application.

  • ELECTRODE HOLDERS
The Progressive standardized gun chassis accomodates an extremely wide range of electrode holders. Totally interchangeable in design, they are available in all lengths and a virtually endless assortment of electrode angles.
  • FLEXIBLE SHUNT
Our special flexible, air cooled standard shunt design assures you of the proper flow of current to welding tips.

  • CYLINDERS
Progressive standardized air and hydraulic cylinders can handle 95% of all your welding needs. Progressive cylinders are completely interchangeable within a broad range of standard gun chassis.

  • HANDLES
Operator comfort is engineered into our entire line of standardized pistol type handles. Like all Progressive gun components, these handles are designed for quick and easy adjustment to the most.

  • AIR OR HYDRAULIC?
Both air and hydraulically operated guns offer the same reliable performance year in and year out. Their rates of operation are about the same. Both are capable of operation at 420 spots per minute. However, 300 spots per minute is about optimum for continuous separation. Air guns generally offer lower initial cost, less weight and faster "follow-up" ability. Hydraulic guns, on the other hand, are more compact, steadier, and are more often used when high welding pressures are called for. Please consult chart below.

  • WHAT ARE YOU ASKING A WELDING GUN TO DO?
The question often arises concerning the difference between light, medium or heavy duty guns. Consider these facts: Light duty guns handle tip pressures up to about 800 lbs., and currents to 12,000 amps. The figures for medium duty guns are 1200 lbs. tip pressure and currents to 25,000 amps. As for Progressive's heavy duty weld guns, tip pressures range to 3500 lbs. and currents to 65,000 amps.

  • WHAT ABOUT... ?
Gun use? There really are no universal guns. Select the specific gun for the job to be done. A gun that performs well on one job may perform poorly on another. Make sure the gun you select provides the correct welding speed and tip pressure for the job.
