Design Head Bearing Assembly |

|
Progressive's new ball and roller bearing construction affords
frictionless, permanent alignment welding head design.
A unique combination ball and roller bearing construction affords frictionless, positive,
permanent alignment support for welding wheel shafts. Eliminates need to replace or
readjust expensive shafts because of wear.

SLIP-RING CURRENT
TRANSFER
A new design, constant contact collector ring system
of current transfer, from head housing to movable shaft, prevents "ride-up,"
chatter and loss of contact. Minimal wear is automatically compensated. Service life is
greatly extended. (See detail.)

LOWER ARMS
Our standard lower arms are designed to provide
maximum clearance in all directions. They are available in a variety of types to meet any
requirement.
Special lower arms can be supplied for unusual
applications.
Universal models have interchangeable inserts for
circular or longitudinal welding. They can also be fitted with double-hinged lower arms so
that circular or longitudinal set-up can be quickly swung into position.

SOLID STATE,
SYNCHRONIZING DRIVE
 |
New electronically synchronized drive assures
trouble.free performance. Easily adjusts to job requirements.Progressive's new
adjustable speed, precision drive completely eliminates the old problem of synchronizing
the peripheral speeds of the dissimilar diameter work contact wheels.
|
 |
Progressive's unique new electronic control panel simplifies the
synchronizing of wheel speeds.
Special D.C. motors and solid state electronic controls take the
guesswork out of wheel speed synchronization, assures high quality welds from start to
finish.

- WELDING WHEELS
Standard RWMA design welding wheels are used. They can be readily adapted to specific
applications. Special wheels (cup type, angle, etc.) are available for special job
requirements.
- WHEEL SHAFT BEARINGS
An exclusive Progressive design using both ball and roller types to assure maximum life
and frictionless, positive alignment.
- COOLING SYSTEM
On standard machines, welding wheels and work are cooled by upper and lower external water
jets. Special internally cooled wheels are available if required. Upper and lower wheel
shafts and bearings are cooled by internal circulating water systems. Upper and lower
bearing housings, secondary leads and lower arm are cooled by integrally cast water tubes.
Secondaries of transformers are also cooled by internal water tubes.
- TRANSFORMERS
These are heavy-duty units designed for the hard, continuous service
required in seam welding. They are conservatively rated to assure ample power. Progressive
transformers are fiber glass and mica insulated, with shell-type cones, pancake primary
coils, and high conductivity secondaries.
- POWER SUPPLY
Standard Progressive Seam Welders are designed for 220, 440 or 550
volts, 50-60 cycles.
Seam Welders for other voltages and frequencies are available on special order.
- ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL SPECIFICATIONS
In accordance with RWMA highest recommended standards.
- ACCESSORIES
Standard Progressive Seam Welders include:
Air line lubricator
Air pressure regulator
Two, speed regulating valves for head movement control
Air strainer
Direct reading pressure gage
Solenoid air valve
Shrouded two-stage foot switch
Dual Seam Welding heads weld top
